From the chilling to the daring, here are five body horror movies you might have missed

Scenario

A fading celebrity takes a black-market drug: a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself. There is nothing scarier than being human, and these films fully explore the inhuman ways our bodies can betray us. us. Ray Liotta was cast in the film in February 2022, but died in May of that year before he could shoot his scenes.

He was replaced by Dennis Quaid, but Liotta is still mentioned in the director’s "Thank You Notes" during the credits.. The toilet mirror reappears intact after being broken repeatedly during the fight sequence.. Elisabeth Sparkle: There was a slight abuse of Substance.. Special thanks in the credits to the many extras on the theater stage who were covered in blood ..

Every scene of this movie blew me away at TIFF

Pump It UpWritten by Michael Hall, Leonardo Stella Starring Earl GregoryProduced by Julien Deguines. The cast, the atmosphere, the visual and sound design, the music and, of course, the symbolism of it all. Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley could not have been more perfectly cast in the lead roles. Their dedication to the process and confidence in their director was clear to me.

It’s a future cult classic for me

Their vulnerability pulls it off and leads to a very convincing fever dream. Everyone involved should be really proud of this film. It’s a body/psychological horror so don’t expect a jump scare. It’s deep.

But it’s also extremely fun to watch!

I found myself lost in reflection during the film (as a 47-year-old woman, it really resonated with me). Take it seriously as a true work of art, but not ;t at the same time and you’ll have a lot of fun..
